The 'Daks is home to literally hundreds of campgrounds: public and private. Most are just open during the Summer from June through September. NYS Department of Environmental Conservation runs many campgrounds throughout the whole state, with about thirty in the Adirondack Park. Here is a state map of them. They offer showers and bathroom, a swimming beach, some trailer hookups and rangers. But it costs $17/night minimum, just for tents. There are many private campgrounds that may offer better rates and more facilities, but some are just for long term residents and frown on the night trade. Some of them however, cater to all trades and have sophisticated facilities and provide summer camp activities for the kids too. They have full hookups for RV's which state ones don't have.
